Class Dale Brown
One of the greatest gifts God has given us the power to choose. That's what separates us from other animals. Every day we are faced with several options. Among these are life three main options:
1. Today will be the same as yesterday.
2. Today will be worse than yesterday.
3. Today looks better than yesterday.
You has the power to choose how your day is – Once you choose, believe what your day will be.
Some years ago there were three young men who played Junior College Basketball for me. They were teammates at Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College. Then they came from different geographical regions of the United States, all are of similar origins of the city center.
Player A: A talented basketball player on the East Coast of the United States. When we sent her confession Working paper through a delivery service next day we were told that should reach the office, not giving in this area. Is arrived in Lexington, Missouri, to begin his pre-university education. At 6:30 the next morning, I had to knock on my door. Coach, this thing is not military for me. I want to go home. I told him to give him two weeks and if it fails, I'd be in a different school.
Player B: Another talented athlete, but was Midwest. He had looked at the programs of several other junior colleges before enrolling in WMA format. And as a player, he had trouble adjusting to life in a military academy.
Player C: Perhaps the most talented of the three athletes, player C has been the West Coast. He probably had time to make it easier adapt three athletes.
The three athletes have had the dream of playing NCAA Division I Basketball. Options However, these three athletes have made that affect their ability continue with their careers and basketball.
Player A was given virtually no chance of academic success. He fought for grades and remain eligible. And it was Tweener, somewhere between a guard and forward. We decided to use his time at the Academy to prepare for the academic front. Basketball is still a important but not an end all problems. It WMA graduate and had a wonderful career at a Division II school. He finished his degree and then completed the Masters.
Player B was an average student. He had the makings of a lower level Division I athlete. However, had poor study habits. No took academic goals. His only goal was to play Division I basketball. However, it was not a predictor of high school and had to graduate to play DI. No was a class as a freshman. I told him I would have to repeat the course in summer school to graduate. He chose not to repeat the course. In the spring of its second year, there were scholarship offers. But they were D-II schools. He does not accept responsibility for not completing. Never went to play basketball after two years. And in At last count, who has been involved in things that should not be.
Player C was a good student and a good leader. He decided to do whatever was to play Division I basketball. He was a leader within the Academy. He has won many honors. He graduated and went to play DI basketball. But never reset their goals. He did everything necessary to play but has not done enough to graduate. He was pleased to achieve the highest level of college basketball. Every time I see or talk to him, said he returned to complete his degree. However, it is not important enough for him to have done.
What is the difference between these three young men? It's the choice they made.
The Power of Choice
Former LSU basketball coach, Dale Brown, said: "In each of us there is a power. A force that can determine our happiness and success. A power that can help us achieve our dreams. This power is the power of choice. "
Coach Brown said: "We have a choice every day about how to react to life. We decide whether or not to proceed with an issue or ignore it, to persevere in difficult times, or deform under. We have the power to choose to go to a goal in life long, is simply stay on the same level forever. We must decide if we give our 100% better, or just try half. It is our resolve to be honest and good, more like a perverse and crooked, to be enthusiastic and committed, instead of boring and lazy. In front of the pacifier is what we do with our power of choice that determines the potential quality of our lives. Take control of your life. You have the power to choose – up to you! "
